What is a glass-filled ruby?

It is low-grade corundum whose cracks have been filled with lead glass to hide them. It looks clear and red but is fragile and cheap compared with a heated ruby. Signs include gas bubbles and a blue flash inside the fractures under a loupe. Any gem lab can identify it quickly.

Why is ruby priced so differently from one stone to the next?

Colour, size and treatment drive most of the price. A strong red ruby above 2 carats is rare, so price per carat rises steeply with weight. Visible cracks, brownish tones and a dull cut lower it. Origin also plays a part when a lab can confirm it.

Ruby ring or ruby pendant?

Both work well, since ruby is hard enough for daily ring wear. Men often choose a ring on the ring finger, following tradition. A pendant keeps the stone safe from knocks and shows the colour near the face, which many women prefer for weddings and gifts.

Can I return a ruby if I change my mind?

Yes, within 7 days of delivery, as long as the stone is unset and returned as it was sent. If any lab finds a stone is not the natural gem we described, we refund in full, delivery included. All orders are Cash on Delivery, paid to the rider.
