A drop shape is less common in sapphire, and it changes how the stone wears. This Sri Lankan Neelam weighs 2.15 ct (2.36 ratti), shows a deep blue and is priced at Rs. 18,000.
The pear-like outline makes an elegant pendant or earring centre, and it lengthens the look of a finger in a ring. Per carat it comes to about Rs. 8,372. We have not had a lab test it for treatment. Point the tip toward the fingertip or the chain, whichever you prefer; your jeweller can set it either way.
