Deep green, almost forest-dark, this 15.65 ct malachite weighs 17.20 ratti. At Rs. 3,000 it works out to about Rs. 192 per carat. The darker shade gives it a serious look that suits a man's ring or a cufflink-style setting.
Dahna-e-Farang has been polished into beads, boxes and inlay for centuries, prized for its colour. Treat it gently: it is a soft stone, 3.5 to 4 in hardness. Lab testing for treatment has not been done on this malachite, and you may arrange it. Courier charges are Rs. 400, so you hand the rider Rs. 3,400 in cash.
