Blue tiles and old bazaars
Multan's skyline is shaped by its shrines, including those of Bahauddin Zakariya and Shah Rukn-e-Alam, and by the blue glazed tiles the city is famous for. That shade of blue is close to the colour of a fine Feroza, so it is no surprise that turquoise has a special place here. Around the shrines and in the old bazaars such as Hussain Agahi, ring stones are sold alongside prayer beads and silver rings.

Stones Multan buyers tend to ask for
Feroza leads the requests from Multan. Close behind are Yemeni Aqeeq and red Aqeeq, both worn by many for their religious associations. Dur-e-Najaf, a clear quartz, and Moh-e-Najaf, with fine hair-like threads inside, are popular too, especially with buyers visiting the shrines.
A care note for Multan's long, hot summers: Feroza is a soft, porous stone, around 5 to 6 on the hardness scale. Take your ring off before washing with soap or applying oils, so the colour stays even.
